HIGH SCHOOL OPT OUT

OPT OUT of your high school's military recruitment list by printing the Opt Out form below, completing it, and submitting it to your school principal and/or superintendent.

  • Opt out policies & procedures vary from school district to school district, but your written request preventing the distribution of your private information to local military recruiters must, by law, be respected by your school district.
  • Deadlines for submitting Opt Out forms vary, but often fall in October.
  • Find out if your school requires renewed Opt Out every school year. If yes, complain.
  • Opting out will not prevent national military recruitment mailings from coming to your house. To block these, Opt Out from the Pentagon's JAMRS list (below). Additionally, the Department of Defense suggested writing "RETURN TO SENDER" on any other recruitment mail received and re-posting it.
